JW The Band is 35
JW The Man is 50!
...So, in maths terms, he's been running bands for 35 out of 50 years!
In 1974 when John Wanner (JW) was 15, he formed his first band: The JW Swing Band.
2009 marked the band's 35th anniversary, which co-incided with JW's 50th year on this planet!
To celebrate, JW is releasing many and varied CD's that embrace more than just his love for Classic Big Band Swing. There will be many wonderful surprises this year!
As JW has a Swiss heritage, he has released a package of his traditional Swiss Folk band called "Gruetzi Mitenand" (which is Swiss-German for "Hello everybody"). This is a group that plays authentic traditional Swiss folk melodies, some European pop melodies of the past, as well (in true JW fashion), Some Swing and Jazz!
To continue to please lovers of his JW Swing Orchestra, JW has also released a CD of their performance at the MLX 2004 - Hellzapoppin' Dance Competitions recorded at Central Hall, Melbourne. It's pure Swing and really jumps!
